Handwritten records, made searchable

Bringing names to light

LumeTracer lets you search and verify names in handwritten records. Every result opens the original page with the exact line highlighted, so you can see the handwriting for yourself.

1

Read line by line

Each page is transcribed in its original language, one handwritten line at a time, then translated into English.

2

Search every spelling

Find a surname even when the clerk spelled it differently, or when the writing allows more than one reading.

3

Verify against the page

Every match shows the scan, the highlighted line and a plain confidence rating: clear, uncertain, illegible or verified.

Honest about what's unclear

Old handwriting is hard. Where a word can't be read with confidence, LumeTracer says so and lists the other possible readings, instead of guessing a name that looks plausible.
